The countries in Central
Europe had centrally planned economies some 14 years ago. Since their
independence in 1993, their economies have outperformed those in the
European Union for the past 5 years.
Such economic performances show that there is investors' confidence and
that domestic consumption are on the rise. Despite a lower per capita
GDP than most ASEAN countries, the Central European markets hold more
growth potential for our local SMEs if they are willing to ignore time
differences, long travel distances, and even language and cultural
differences.
